Berlin is a melting pot for Jewish artists from all over the world. Berlin is a multilingual city, a modern Tower of Babel. Berlin represents religious pluralism, (post)migrant reality, tensions within its Jewish population. Berlin is the hub for artistic exploration of what it means to be Jewish in the present.

The screening of Jüdische Kunst in Berlin / Jewish Art in Berlin (curated by Daniel Laufer) offers many insights into the contemporary art that is currently being produced in Berlin. A panel discussion with Jewish artists working in various fields will be taking place after the screening and will provide further insights into the situation. The film and the discussion raise issues that are fraught with tension and dissension. What can art achieve? What is Berlin’s position in Europe? Is there such a thing as Jewish-Diaspora art?
